Family correspondence and miscellaneous items, including ticket, 26 Apr. 1876, to 57th anniversary celebration of Mountain Lodge No. 15, International Order of Odd Fellows; letter, 16 May 1892, Westminster, from R.B. Ligon, Greenville, S.C. re settlement of the estate of Johnson's mother, economic and political prospects of the South, and support for Populist politics and hopes for the rise of a third party to challenge the Democrats if the party rejected the "Ocala demands," which included abolition of national banks, "we will have no other way to escape oppression." Broadside, [1912], "To The Voters of Greenville County," issued by Hendrix Rector, charging the Republican party with instigating certain accusations and claiming that the "move" against him was financed by "Lewis Parker and Frank Hammond and many other capitalists." Broadside, 21 July 1913, "To the Voters of Greenville City," Ellison H. Miller responding to a statement by Dr. Cody published in the Greenville News, "I am not under the guise of a political party caucus, plotting against the people, and if the old grumps don't like what I say, come again and don't stand back and squall like a Mexican greaser choked on dog liver trying to cuss the railroad out in Chinese language." Bound volumes, 1873-1928, Greenville and Pickens Counties, S.C., include carpenter's diary, account books, check books, bank deposit books, and helper's time books.
